SUNDAY MASS AT OUR LADY, HELP OF CHRISTIANS

PUTTING YOUR NAME IN FOR A PLACE AT SUNDAY MASS

The procedure for coming to Mass at Our Lady, Help of Christians for the next two weeks. there’s been a slight change - basically PLEASE PHONE THE PARISH OFFICE! After August 31st, it’s for Fr Alex to decide how things are arranged, but for now:

If you have been to Mass since we re-opened on July 12th, please wait till Saturday before phoning (and please do PHONE!) the Presbytery (01303 252823) and register for a place at Mass the next day.

If you have NOT YET been to Mass since we re-opened on July 12thplease phone (and please do PHONE!) the Presbytery (01303 252823) earlier on in the week (Monday to Friday), and register for a place at Mass on the coming Sunday.

As I say, please do PHONE rather than using email or text.

If the phone is not answered by Fr Stephen, Trish, or Dylan (or another person), please

·  ENDURE THE TAPED ANSWER!

·  LEAVE A MESSAGE!

·  SAY YOUR NAME CLEARLY!

This helps us to allocate places in the order in which calls arrive.

Doing it this way spreads the opportunity to come to mass around more fairly!

As predicted, the government has changed the rules for churches – we all now have to wear masks. Now this might well have meant that we could have had ONE-metre distancing, and accommodate more people in church: but last week many people took their masks off during the mass, so I was glad that we had kept the two-metre social distancing. So we’ll stick to that till the end of the month. It is better to be safe than sorry! And along with that I want to stress how grateful we should ALL be to those who prepare things for Sunday Mass, and to the doorkeepers and stewards, and especially to the loyal and hardworking  cleaners, who come sacrificially to clean the church in the middle of Sunday afternoon. Without these volunteers, we could not do it! God bless you all, and the volunteers an extra bit!

OPENING OUR LADY HELP OF CHRISTIANS FOR PRIVATE PRAYER AND ADORATION

Thank you to those who have volunteered (by phone and email) their help in opening Guildhall Street for private prayer and adoration. This something where I need help, and sensible advice, as well as the necessary equipment and materials. I think that we may be blessed, and able to open for some restricted periods in the week beginning June 28th. I hope so - but it may be the week after. I will let you know by email - those on the PARISH email list that we keep in the parish office - all of you who get this bulletin each week by email. (To my deep regret there is another, unofficial, emailing list in operation in the parish that I have no access to. So I don’t even know how much they overlap
