X CAFOD FAMILY FAST DAY was held on Friday 7th October and we raised £158.50 in our parish amongst those who gave their cash or envelops into the parish. Some of you may have also sent in your donations directly. Thank you for your generosity. 

X SACARMENTAL PROGRAMME START DATES will be:

  • First Holy Communion - 5th November 2022 at 9.00am in the church hall at Our Lady, Help of Christians. 
  • Confirmation - 5th November 2022 at 9.30am in the church hall at Our Lady, Help of Christians. 
  • Journey in Faith RCIA – 7th November in the church hall at Our Lady, Help of Christians. 

Fr Alex has agreed that anybody who wishes to join any of the sacramental programmes due to start in November can do so by submitting your application forms, which are available at the back of the church, as soon as possible. 

X RIDE AND STRIDE UPDATE FROM OLHoCa note of thanks to Carol Chittock, Bernie Pay, Liz Willis, Sandra and Glynn Hibbert and John Philpott - all who were Stewards at OLHoC for the Friends of Kent Churches Ride and Stride on 11th September. They welcomed 34 riders and striders to our church. Also to Sara Adams, who visited 13 churches in the Folkestone and Cheriton area. Thank you also to the people who sponsored the stewards and rider - we raised £170. Half of which we will see come back to our parish. We await an update from Steve Press on the St Joseph’s part of the parish with numbers.

X  ST BERNADETTE RELICS TOUR OF ENGLAND AND WALES – we are now welcoming the relics of St Bernadette, which will travel from the Upper Basilica in Lourdes to every Diocese in England and Wales, including the Archdiocese of Southwark. The invitation to host the relics was issued by the Shrine of Lourdes to the Bishops of England and Wales, and as part of this special tour, they will spend two days, between 19th and 20th October 2022, at St George's Cathedral, Southwark. 

·         St George's Cathedral opens 7.15am

·         All Masses last approximately 30 minutes unless otherwise specified. 

 

Wednesday 19th October 2022

7.30 am: Mass 

9.45 am: St Bernadette's Relics on display

12.30 pm: Mass 

6.00 pm: Solemn Mass (1 hour)

10.00pm Visiting of Relics Closes

 

Thursday 20th October 2022

7.30 am: Mass 

8.00 am:  Visiting St Bernadette's Relics opens

12.30 pm and 6.00 pm: Mass 

10.00 pm Visiting of Relics Closes

 

The relics will then spend four days, between 24th until 28th October at Aylesford Priory in Kent. The schedule at the Priory is: 

Monday 24th October – Mass at 7.00pm

 

Tuesday 25th - Thursday 27th inclusive

12 noon: Mass

3.30 pm: Exposition & Benediction

5.00 pm: Mass followed by Torchlight Procession

 

Friday 28th October – Mass at 12 noon

 

Confessions Daily at the Priory   

10.30 am – 11.30 am & 2.30 pm – 4.00 pm
