X ST JOSEPH’S CHURCH TEMPORARY CLOSURE FROM 2 JANUARY 2023 - as announced last week, it is with great reluctance that I have decided to temporarily close St Joseph’s Church until such time as we can get the heating working or the weather and outside temperatures improve.
As I have reported on several occasions, the heating problems are being investigated by Boiler Healthcare Limited of Sellindge, and their specialist oil-heating engineer form larger premises. So far, we have had an initial investigation, a full service of the boiler, a repair of the fuses and heating controls, a new burner installed and it now seems as though the pump has failed despite the boiler burning brightly. The boiler was installed in the 1960s and it will take some time to source the relevant parts and get them fitted, which will hopefully ensure that the church will be warm for parishioners and visitors to attend Mass. As I stated last week, if the advice had been followed in 2015 and a new boiler installed at the time there were previous issues with it, we wouldn’t be in this position today. Unfortunately, we are no longer in a financial position to be able to afford the installation of a new boiler on the site.
I ask you to pray that we get the heating fixed and our beautiful church in Cheriton to be open to all once again. Thank you for your patience in this matter.
X POPE FRANCIS
ASKS FOR PRAYERS FOR POPE EMERITUS BENEDICT XVI who is very ill. The latest reports are that he
remains absolutely lucid and alert, although his condition remains serious;
however, at the moment he is currently stable.
Pope
Francis said last Wednesday
“I
would like to ask you all for a special prayer for Pope Emeritus Benedict, who
in silence is supporting the Church. Remember him - he is very ill -
asking the Lord to console him, and sustain him in this witness of love for the
Church, until the end.”
X PLEASE NOTE THAT CHILDRENS’S LITURGY RETURNS next Sunday at the 11.00am Mass and that the Confirmation classes restart on Saturday 8th January.
