Thank you for your cooperation and support.

X PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS those who are unwell, recovering or in hospital including Angie Jane Cross and Sr Sophie Pepper.

The Lord measures out perfection neither by the multitude nor the magnitude of our deeds, but by the manner in which we perform them.’  St John of the Cross

X OFFETORY AND FINANCE – The income for May received from Collections was as follows:

Cash £3,047.49; Bankers Orders £1,085.00; CollecTin Card Machine at OLHoC £485.00; Renovation Fund £70.00; 2nd Collection’s: Catholic Trust for England & Wales £66.95

Excluding the Renovation Fund and 2nd Collections, based on the five Sundays in May 2021, this equates to an average of £923.40 per week in Offerings to the Parish. A comparison to pre-Covid giving in May 2019 is that our Parish Collections averaged £1,227.75 per week, and this would equate to a loss in income of nearly £16,000 per annum at present. It is hoped that once people return to Mass that the Parish finances will recover once again to enable us to do God’s work here.

THANK YOU for your continued generosity in supporting your Parish.

X FINANCE COUNCIL MEETING – our newly formed Parish Finance Council will meet at 7.00pm on Monday 21st June in the Parish Hall at Our Lady, Help of Christians.

X GIFT AID If you would like to join the Parish Gift Aid scheme, whereby we get an additional 25% of your donations from the Government if you are a UK taxpayer, then please contact the parish office or speak to George Pound, our Gift Aid co-ordinator, so we can get you set up.

X NEXT WEEKEND’S RETIRING COLLECTION on 19/20 June will be for the Day of Prayer for Human Life. Day dedicated to celebrating the Sacredness of Life. Collections provide core funding for the Anscombe Bioethics Centre and other life related activities supported by the church through grants to charities.

X ALTAR SERVERS - We are now looking at bringing back Altar Servers, starting with Mass on Sundays. Altar servers assist the priest and the deacon and may carry the cross, the candles, the thurible, the bread, the wine, and the water.

The role of an Altar Server is integral to the celebration of Mass and should be mature enough to understand their responsibilities and to carry them out well with reverence. They should also have already received Holy Communion for the first time and receive the Eucharist whenever they take part in the liturgy. If you are interested, please let Fr Alex know via email on folkestone@rcaos.org.uk so that you may receive proper formation before beginning your ministry as an Altar Server.

X  WE FLY TO THY PROTECTION –

We fly to Thy protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers,O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.

X  PRAYER TO ST MICHAEL -

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.  Amen.
