X NOVEMBER ENVELOPES FOR THE DEPARTED ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT THE BACK OF CHURCH. November is the Month of the Holy Souls, and so throughout the month we continue to keep in our liturgical prayer those special people, particular to us, who have died.
A plenary indulgence, applicable only to Holy Souls, may be gained once in any church either on All Souls’ Day, on the preceding or following Sunday or on the Feast of All Saints, on the usual conditions, viz a visit to a church, where Our Father and Creed are recited, sacramental confession, Holy Communion and prayer for the Holy Father’s intention.
X THE GRAND BAZAAR raised a grand total of £1,172.16 which was an amazing effort by all to help raise funds to support the work of our parish. A huge THANK YOU to all who helped organise such a splendid day and to all who came and bought things or contributed in any way.
X A SPECIAL MASS will be held on Saturday 12th November at 1.00pm at Our Lady, Help of Christians and St Aloysius, for the deceased for all those who have lost someone since 2017. All are welcome to this Mass and it will be followed by refreshments in the Hall.
If you are coming to this Mass you are welcome to bring anything that you hold in memory of your beloved departed. A place will be organised in the Church to put them all together during the Mass. We hope to see you there. For further information, please speak to Ellen or Father Alex.
X CHILDREN’S LITURGY AT 11AM MASS - every Sunday starting 27th November 2022.
The children will be invited by Fr Alex, at the appropriate time, to accompany the Catechists to the Hall for their liturgy. They will take part in religious activities designed specifically for children.
All children of any age up to the age of 8 are invited. A parent or guardian must accompany children below 5 years. The liturgy will last for 25 minutes, and they will rejoin their parents in the Church for the rest of the Mass.
BRING YOUR CHILDREN
ALONG!
X FIXING THE HEATING – there is good news for St Joseph’s this week. Boiler Heathcare Company, who are repairing the boiler at St Joseph’s have sourced the burner parts needed following the recent service carried out and will install this on Monday. We will then flush out the system to ensure that there is heat in our radiators and St Joseph’s Church is once again a warm place to attend Mass.
The total cost of all these works is £3,032.70 so we need to do a fair bit of fundraising to get the money needed to pay the repair and maintenance bills. Additional money is also required for Our Lady, Help of Christians church heating too.
You can also donate towards the cost of this
work via cheque payable to “RCAS Folkestone” and placed in an envelope marked ‘Heating
Appeal’ posted to the Parish Office at the Catholic Presbytery at 41 Guildhall
Street or via bank transfer to RCAS Folkestone, Sort Code 52-41-42 and Account Number 08605556.
Alternatively, you can use our Just Giving page
online, a link is on our parish website, which allows for payments to be made by
credit and debit card or by PayPal with no fees, and also to be gift aided via
the diocese at
www.justgiving.com/fundraising/olsj-folkestone
