CONFIRMATION CLASSES RESUME THIS WEEK: the next class will be held at 6.00pm on Wednesday
in the church of Our Lady Help of Christians at Guildhall Street.
FIRST HOLY COMMUINION CLASSES have now restarted after the Easter holidays. The
children will begin working hard once again in their studies. Group 2 will be
having a class in the church at Our Lady Help of Christians next Saturday at
9.00am.
THANK YOU FROM CAFOD: Thank you for your generous donations to
CAFOD’s Family Fast Day during Lent. We featured Marian and her son Svondo in
Zimbabwe in Lent 2018. The community vegetable garden that your donations
helped provide is growing well and during the pandemic the family has survived
on the vegetables. Your support has also helped to provide soap and handwashing
stations in the garden and in family homes. This is just one of many long-term
development projects that CAFOD has funded with the money from that Fast Day.
Thank you for your steadfast support. The parish raised £257.50 from our Lent
Family Fast Day this year.
FEAST OF ST GEORGE ON 23RD APRIL: The
Feast of St George will take place on Friday 23rd April and Archbishop
John will celebrate Mass in the Cathedral at 12.30 pm that day. Please remember
all who work at St George's Cathedral that day, that their many
efforts on behalf of the Diocese will be richly blessed.
OFFETORY
AND FINANCE – last
week’s collection (excluding standing orders) was £303.10. The second
collection for the Maintenance of St George’s Cathedral raised £72.78. The
final figure for the collections for the Holy Places over Easter raised £123.20. THANK YOU for your continued generosity.
TO OUR CATHOLIC UNIVERSE AND
CATHOLIC TIMES READERS IN THE PARISH: If you are unable
to collect your paper, available from the back of the church of Our Lady Help of Christians, you can now get
it delivered direct to your home every week - just go to www.thecatholicuniverse.com or call 0161 820 5722 and to arrange delivery at just £25 for three
months or £99 for one year. All papers
are Covid safe and packed in a sterile component.
Hartley Parish Pilgrimage: Join the beautiful parish of St Francis de Sales at its Marian
Shrine in Hartley for their online pilgrimage on Saturday 1st May at
3.30pm. The parish will be offering hymns, prayers and reflections on a
webcast at https://tinyurl.com/vc7w838m
ANNUAL MIGRANTS' MASS - In the Year of St Joseph, and in
honour of St Joseph the Worker, the London dioceses of Southwark, Westminster
and Brentwood will celebrate the 16th Annual Mass for Migrants on Saturday 1st
May 2021 at 11.20am.
This year the Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Paul
McAleenan and live-streamed from St William of York Roman Catholic Church, Forest
Hill. Although we cannot welcome the faithful in person this year, this
lively online service will still celebrate of the significant contribution made
by migrants to life of our dioceses. All are welcome.

Please do also take a moment to visit the brand new JPIC website for the
latest information on their important work in Southwark: https://jpicsouthwark.org.uk/
GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY: In error in last week’s
bulleting, I advised that the second collection would be for Ecclesiastical
Education, when it is in fact next week and I apologise.
On Sunday 25th April the Church will celebrate Good
Shepherd, or Vocations Sunday. This is an important day to
PRAY for vocations;
ENCOURAGE those who may be considering consecrated life;
DONATE to Southwark's Priests' Training Fund, so that the Diocese can meet its obligations and offer
both ecclesiastical education and formation to a man who wishes to become a
priest or deacon.
Southwark is also offering a
website link for further reading on vocations and a place where online
donations can be made if you are unable to give your donation at Sunday mass
next weekend: http://www.rcsouthwark.co.uk/vocations.htm
APPEAL FOR READERS: We putting together new rotas of readers for all daily and Sunday Masses
at both churches. If you are able to offer your time and attend a brief
training session, please give your name and details to the Parish Priest or to
the Office on folkestone@rcaos.org.uk
PRAYER FOR
VOCATIONS
Gracious and loving God, we thank you for
the gift of our priests; help them to be strong in their vocation and become
instruments of your love and grace.
Send your Holy Spirit to give courage and
guidance to all those you are calling to the priesthood, diaconate and
religious life in our Archdiocese. May those called hear your voice and respond
wholeheartedly to become the person you created them to be.
Heavenly Father, form us all in the
likeness of your Son, Jesus Christ the Good Shepherd, so that we may love you
more deeply and serve you more faithfully. We ask this through Christ Your Son,
the Eternal High Priest,
Amen.

QUEEN OF HEAVEN (LATIN: REGINA CAELI) – this is said throughout Eastertide
from Easter Sunday through Pentecost to the seventh Sunday after Easter. The Regina caeli is also said in place of
the Angelus during Eastertide.

V. Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia.
R. For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia.
V. Has risen, as he said,
alleluia.
R. Pray for us to God, alleluia.
V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary,
alleluia.
R. For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.
Let us
pray. O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Thy Son, our
Lord Jesus Christ, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the
Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through
the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Regina caeli (latin)
V. Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia.
R. Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia.
V. Resurrexit, sicut dixit,
alleluia.

R. Quia surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia.
Oremus.
Deus, qui per resurrectionem Filii tui, Domini nostri Iesu Christi, mundum
laetificare dignatus es: praesta, quaesumus; ut per eius Genetricem Virginem
Mariam, perpetuae capiamus gaudia vitae. Per eundem Christum Dominum nostrum.
Amen.
