X ALTAR SERVERS - We are now looking at bringing back Altar Servers, starting with Mass on Sundays. Altar servers assist the priest and the deacon and may carry the cross, the candles, the thurible, the bread, the wine, and the water.
The role of an Altar Server is integral to the celebration of Mass and should be mature enough to understand their responsibilities and to carry them out well with reverence. They should also have already received Holy Communion for the first time and receive the Eucharist whenever they take part in the liturgy. If you are interested, please let Fr Alex know via email on folkestone@rcaos.org.uk so that you may receive proper formation before beginning your ministry as an Altar Server.
X COMMUNION FOR THE SICK – home visits can now take place by priests, deacons and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. If you were previously an XMC in the Parish, can you please let Fr Alex know who you are and who you were previously visiting either by phone on 01303 252823 or email to folkestone@rcaos.org.uk. Following changes to safeguarding, all XMCs will require to be DBS checked at least once every three years by the Diocese. Our new Safeguarding team will be in touch with you once you have let us know that you wish to continue.
X MINISTRY OF READERS – thank you for everyone who took part in the
training for the Ministry of Readers. Unfortunately,
if you did not attend, then you will not be able to take part in reading at
Mass. If you missed the session and would still like to read at Mass in our
Parish, please contact folkestone@rcaos.org.uk There will be a follow
up session to review what was done and for any new people who wish to join the
ministry of Readers this Wednesday, 2nd June at Our Lady, Help of Christians at
7.00pm. Parking is available for free in the Council car parks after 6.00pm in Foresters
Way or St Eanswythe Way or on the roads nearby.

X MASS TIMES AFTER 6TH JUNE – following Sunday 6th June and Corpus Christi, the Parish Mass times will revert back to the 9.00am Sunday Mass being at St Joseph’s on the first and third Sunday and at OLHoC on the second, fourth and fifth Sunday of the month. When the 9.00am Sunday Mass is at OLHoC, the Saturday morning 10.00am Mass will be at St Joseph’s instead.
X OPPOSING THE PROPOSED ASSISTED DYIING BILL – An Assisted Dying Bill was introduced to the House of Lords this week and received a first reading which means it now moves forward to be considered in more detail at a later date. The Catholic Church remains opposed to any form of assisted suicide and has reaffirmed support for high quality end-of-life care, which includes spiritual and pastoral support for the one who is dying and their family.
The ‘Day for
Life’, to be celebrated on Sunday, 20th June 2021 in England and Wales, will
call Catholics to pray for good care of those who are elderly, sick and dying
and to oppose such legislation.

appoint a practising Catholic as Visitor Centre Manager with effect from
September 2021. The contract is for two years initially. The salary is £15k
p.a. An interest in heritage and administrative experience would be an

missionary archdiocese.’ None of this will be possible without prayer. As we
pray for our Church, we also pray that we may be renewed ourselves. Let us pray
that we may know more deeply the love of God for us and the hope he gives, so
