X A MESSAGE FROM THE MARRIAGE
AND FAMILY LIFE TEAM - Dear husband and wife!
An online ‘Building a Better
Marriage’ opportunity is being held from 9am - 1pm on Saturday April 2nd
2022.
The course offered means that you can
attend the course from your own living room and there is no group sharing!
Recent Building a
Better Marriage courses received the following comments from married couples
who logged on … ‘The topics were chosen well and we could really relate to
them. The personal stories you shared were very insightful and helped us to
reflect on our own relationships more deeply… It was relaxed and you put us at
ease, being friendly and personable...’
‘We thoroughly
enjoyed attending the course and have certainly been practicing a few of the
things we learnt already. It puts a smile on our faces when we do because we
know that we are certainly richer from participating in the course.’

X SIR WILLIAM FITTALL, RIP (1953 – 2022) - retired senior civil
servant, Secretary-General of the Church of England General Synod and, more
recently, Chair of the Trustees of the Rainbow Centre, died recently.
Through the Rainbow
Centre, William became involved with the Winter Shelter, he and his wife,
Barbara, initially volunteering a few years ago to help serve breakfasts at Our
Lady, Help of Christians. The following
year he volunteered for the overnight team, sleeping weekly in Our Lady’s hall
most weeks during the course of the winter….and that continued for a few years
with a break when St Paul’s, Sandgate became one of the host churches. But William seemed to have a soft spot for
Our Lady and returned for the 2019/20 season.
For 2020/21 our guests were accommodated in bed-and-breakfasts, so
William became one of our drivers, delivering meals prepared by our cooks.
One evening, William
having arrived in Our Lady Help of Christian’s hall as usual, he received a
‘phone call. He didn’t reveal the
content until much later, by which time the news had become public: William was
to receive a knighthood!
May he rest in peace.
