X LENT COURSE, WEEK 2: MARY, THE FIRST DISCIPLE (part 2 of the Let it be DVD series). We continue our journey into the heart of Mary and, through her, into the heart of Jesus.  If you missed last week’s, don’t worry….we’d love to see you! 

This week’s session is on Thursday, 7.30pm until 9.00pm at Our Lady Help of Christians hall, Guildhall Street.  We’ll have the kettle on! 

If you’re hesitant about going out at night, we’re offering door-to-door transport: ring 01303 258962 for a lift!  

Join us as we make this Lenten journey that takes us deeper into the heart of Mary and, through her, into the heart of Jesus. The dates remaining, and you can drop in to any of the evenings, are:

·                Thursday 24th March: Mother of All – St Joseph’s hall at 7.30pm

X CAFOD LENT FAST DAY HELD ON FRIDAY 11TH MARCH AND SECOND COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND - The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development invites you to donate to its Lent appeal to help support the Ukraine appeal. 

Last Friday was CAFOD Lent Fast Day. Please donate the money you’ve saved by skipping a meal last Friday to the CAFOD appeal.  Collection baskets will be out at the end of Mass or you can return your money in an envelope to the church or parish office…. or you may donate online at cafod.org.uk.  

X SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND There will be the previously postponed Diocesan second collection for the Poor Parishes in our Diocese. This collection enables the Archbishop to be able to make grants tosome of the smaller parishes throughout the Diocese. 

X MASS ATTENDANCE - last weekend there were 325 people who came to Sunday Masses. Remember, after the 9.00am and 11.00am Sunday Mass there is always refreshments available in the church hall at the mass site where Mass is being held. You are very welcome to join us.

X PLEASE PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE SICK OR IN HOSPITAL including Margaret Woolley, Lilian Orfila, Yenny Marcela Torres, Beulah Blomfield, Margaret Murphy and Margaret Foster. 

X GIFT AID ENVELOPES - the new Gift Aid envelopes for 2022/23 are now ready and thank you to everyone who has so far collected their envelopes. Boxes for collection are now placed at the back of the church at Our Lady, Help of Christians. We get an additional 25% back from the taxman for your donations and this makes a huge difference to the parish’s income. Thank you for your continued generosity.  

If you are a taxpayer, and currently give to the Church using any method, but don’t currently use Gift Aid, can I urge you to start using Gift Aid. It is very simple and more details can be obtained by speaking to Dylan or emailing folkestone@rcaos.org.uk 

X STATIONS OF THE CROSS take place at noon on Wednesday at St Joseph’s and at noon on Friday at Our Lady, Help of Christians. The Stations of the Cross is a devotion that reaches deep into people’s hearts, and prepares us to enter into the heart of the Paschal Mystery at Easter. 

X PARISH RECONCILLIATION SERVICE FOR EASTER is on Saturday 26th March at 4.30pm.

X CATECHISM AND CATHOLIC STUDY CLASS takes place on Monday nights at 7.30pm in the Hall at Our Lady, Help of Christians. These sessions usually finish around 9.00pm and are engaging, enthusing and enable all participants to explore their faith further. Classes are open to all who want to explore their Catholic faith further and you can drop in any time. Please come along and join in this amazing experience if you are free.
