X
CAFOD LENT FAST DAY AND CAFOD/CARITAS/DEC COLLECTION FOR UKRAINE – Thank you to everyone who attended the ‘Light a Candle for Peace’ held in the parish at Our Lady, Help of Christians and St Aloysius. We had a steady stream of people coming into the church to pray and/or light a candle for peace and over the course of four hours over 850 people in total.

A big thank you to everyone who helped steward, light candles, welcome people in, make teas or coffee or just chat to people. This was a moving connection with the community in our parish with many new visitors including those of other religions who took the opportunity to pray for humanity, peace and negotiation to prevail. Early figures indicate we have also raised over £650 towards the CAFOD/CARITAS/DEC appeal towards helping our aid agencies on the ground with the situation in Ukraine and at the borders.

You can still donate to the appeal at https://cafod.org.uk/Give/Donate-to-Emergencies/Ukraine-Humanitarian-Appeal

X LENT COURSE - This week is Lent course, week 3: Mary, mother of all. We're getting into our stride now...but it's still OK to join if you haven't attended before! This week's session is on Thursday at St Joseph's hall, starting at 7.30pm and finishing no later than 9.00pm, where we continue our journey into the heart of Mary and, through her, into the heart of Jesus.

Join us as we make this Lenten journey that takes us deeper into the heart of Mary and, through her, into the heart of Jesus. The dates remaining, and you can drop in to any of the evenings, are:

·                Thursday 24th March: Mother of All – St Joseph’s hall at 7.30pm

X PARISH RECONCILLIATION SERVICE FOR EASTER is this Saturday 26th March at 4.30pm. During the service, Fr Alex will be available, along with two additional priests who are visiting the parish, for confessions and reconciliation for all in attendance.

X CATECHISM AND CATHOLIC STUDY CLASS takes place on Monday nights at 7.30pm in the Hall at Our Lady, Help of Christians. These sessions usually finish around 9.00pm and are engaging, enthusing and enable all participants to explore their faith further. Classes are open to all who want to explore their Catholic faith further. It doesn’t matter if you have not been before, you can drop in any time. Please do come along and join in this amazing experience on a Monday evening.

X CONSECRATION OF RUSSIA AND UKRAINE TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

Following heartfelt statements from the Holy Father and Church leaders around the world for an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, and in reference to Our Lady of Fatima’s request in 1917 for the consecration of Russia, Pope Francis will consecrate both countries to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Friday 25th March, the Feast of the Annunciation.

He will be joined by bishops from around the world, including Archbishop John Wilson, who will celebrate an act of consecration in St George’s Cathedral, Southwark at 4.00pm on that day.

All are welcome to join Archbishop Wilson in person, or can take part in the service remotely via live-stream: https://youtu.be/yMpsyai1hV8
