X EASTER OFFERING – This weekend’s collection is for the Easter
Offering. If you are unable to put a contribution in the collection, then
envelopes are available at the back of the church for you to put into the
collection baskets or to put through the Presbytery door at 41 Guildhall
Street.
X PARISH CENSUS 2022 – We are undertaking
our Parish Census to update our records held by the Roman Catholic Parish of Our
Lady and St Joseph, Folkestone. Forms are available at the back of the churches
for completion. Your data will only be used by the Parish and to inform the
Diocese and Catholic Church with overall aggregated numbers for headings. Please complete your form today and
hand them in or post them through the presbytery letterbox at 41 Guildhall
Street.
X CATECHISM AND
CATHOLIC STUDY CLASS has now broken up for the Easter holidays and will now
resume on Monday 16th May at 7.30pm.
X MASS ATTENDANCE -
last weekend there were 360 people who came to
Sunday Masses. Tea, coffee, chocolate biscuits and bacon butties will be
available at both church halls immediately after Mass on Sunday.
X INTERNET PROBLEMS
AND LIVE FEED – we have recently had a problem with the
broadband at the parish office. This has resulted in occasional delays to
responding to correspondence and also meant we have been unable to have
contactless and card donations for the past two weeks. We are also aware that
it has interrupted the live streaming feed of the church at OLHoC and Masses
that have been held there. BT Openreach are looking into the issues and the line
fault is scheduled to be fixed very soon. Please bear with us.
X NEXT WEEKEND 23RD/24TH APRIL – SPECIAL COMBONI MISSIONARIES OF
THE HEART OF JESUS MISSION APPEAL
– we will have a visiting priest for Saturday night and both Sunday Masses next
weekend as part of an appeal for the Comboni Missionaries, also known as the
Verona Fathers, to support their ministry and share their work with
parishioners in the Diocese.
X CAFOD NOTICE OF THANKS - Thank you so much for your
support of CAFOD’s Lent Family Fast Day, the Walk Against Hunger and the
Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Your support means we can respond in crises
such as Ukraine where our Caritas aid workers and volunteers could quickly help
families fleeing conflict. It also means we’re there in the long-term and
can continue to respond to crises around the world, including in Afghanistan,
Syria, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. We work
alongside communities as they rebuild their lives once the conflict is over, as
in Sierra Leone. For lots more detail on how your donations are being used,
please go to the CAFOD website cafod.org.uk
X PLEASE
PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE SICK, IN HOSPITAL OR RECOVERING FROM ILLNESS, SURGERY OR
TREATMENT including
Margaret Woolley, Francis Dunn, Lilian Orfila, Beulah Blomfield, Frank Healey,
Margaret Murphy and Margaret Foster.
X EASTER FLOWERS
APPEAL – thank you to everyone who gave
so generously. We have raised a total of £270.71 for the Easter flowers ta both
churches in our parish. You can still make a late donation in an envelope
marked flowers and putting in the collection or through the door of the
Presbytery.
X DON’T FORGET -
Sunday Mass on 1st May for Our Lady, Help of Christians and St Joseph the
Worker is on the school field at Stella Maris School at 11.00am that day. For
those unable to attend, there will be a Saturday evening Mass at 6.00pm on 30th
April at OLHoC.
X SECOND COLLECTION FOR MAINTENANCE OF ST GEORGE’S CATHEDRAL is postponed in our parish until weekend of 1st
May.
