X CAFOD FAMILY FAST DAY – LENT APPEAL is this Friday. Envelopes for the collection may be taken from the back of the church and placed in the second collection being held next weekend. This Lent, your donations to CAFOD’s Family Fast Day Appeal will help families fighting the climate crisis and ensure that our Church network can quickly respond to emergencies, like the recent earthquake in Syria and Turkey. Let us also pray for CAFOD’s development and emergency response work all over the world.

X THIS WEEK’S SECOND COLLECTION IS FOR THE CLERGY SUPPORT FUND The Clergy Support Fund of the Archdiocese of Southwark provides care for priests in their old age and retirement, and in their time of ill health. A gift to this worthy fund will ensure a dignified retirement for our priests, after they have dedicated a lifetime of service to Christ, His Church and His People.

In 2022, the Clergy Support Fund provided care to 73 retired priests, at a cost of £1,33 million. With the number of priests over the age of 65 steadily increasing, so too will the financial obligation to the Archdiocese. Please be generous today with a gift to the Clergy Support Fund and continue to keep our priests in your prayers.  Thank you!

Donate online: https://rcaos.org.uk/donate/csf

Telephone Mon-Fri 9am-5pm 020 7960 2504

Cash/Cheque – please use the Clergy Support Fund envelopes at the back of church to gift aid your donation or give privately or place in the second collection at Mass.

X COLLECTION a total of £632.95 was raised at last week’s cash collection and a total of £373.96 was raised for the Parish’s Building Fund. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

X TEA AND A CHAT FOR THE WISE AND MATURE EVERY MONDAY MORNING – the Connect Club meets weekly every Monday from 9.45am-12.00 noon at the Beacon Plus Community Cafe in OLHoC Hall straight after Mass. All are welcome to this warm space with  tea, coffee and cake for the wise and mature every Monday at the Connect Club.

The Connect Club is a chance to have some refreshments, kindly paid for, if so required, by our Parish SVP, whilst using the opportunity to have some fun, have a natter and put the world to rights. The club is organised by George Pound, so don’t delay and come and have a say every Monday.

X A DIOCESAN RETREAT FOR LENT – RENEWED IN HOPE - The retreat is designed for individuals and for parish groups based on weekly exercises for prayer and reflection. X HERALD OF FREE ENTERPRISE COMMEMORATION - to remember the 193 lives that were lost in the Herald of Free Enterprise disaster on 6th March 1987. On Sunday 5th March 2pm, at the Clocktower Square, the new public realm on the seafront at Dover CT17 9FS, there will be an act of Remembrance consisting of prayers, a 2-minute silence and the reading of the roll of names.

St Mary’s Church, in Biggin Street, Dover, will also be open on the 4th, 5th, and 6th of March so that visitors can see the book of remembrance, the memorial window, the ship’s bell, leave flowers and also for private prayer. This tragedy affected so many people locally in our parish, those who worked with or knew people working on the ship or at the port at that time. We remember them in our prayers.
