X calling all knitters – a sponsored knit-in-aid of the Rainbow centre is taking place in the OLHoC Parish Hall on Wednesday 19th April from 1.45pm to 4.30pm. If you would like to be part of a team of six, knitting for one and a half hours (plain/garter stitch, rows of 30 stitches), please ring Sara Adams on 07745 247102 to find out more. This is a fun event so you do not need to be an expert knitter. Plenty of tea and biscuits throughout the event and music to knot by too.
X STATIONS
OF THE CROSS –
during Lent our parish can follow the Stations of the Cross - at 12 noon on
Friday at Our Lady, Help of Christians and St Aloysius. A “station” is a place
on a journey where one makes a stop – and we follow Jesus along the path of
sorrow – the Via Dolorosa - from
Pilate’s Court to the tomb, and we make a stop at fourteen places to be with
Jesus on this way of suffering. The Stations of the Cross is a devotion that
can reach deep into our hearts and prepares us to enter into the heart of the
Paschal Mystery at Easter.
X PALM SUNDAY PROCESSION – there will be a Blessing of Palms at the beginning of the 6.00pm and 9.00am Masses next weekend. The Blessing at the 11.00am Mass will take place in the Hall at 10.45am with the Procession from the Hall afterwards to the church via the street. Please keep the time in your mind and get here early to take part.

the Altar of Repose. People are encouraged to keep silence from the repose to
the time the group prayer led by our Liturgy Committee until midnight when we
will conclude with the Night Prayer of the Church.

WE FLY TO THY PROTECTION
We fly to Thy protection,
O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.
WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO OPEN UP YOUR HOME AND YOUR HEART TO
WELCOME PEOPLE FLEEING UKRAINE?
Homes
for Ukraine is a government scheme launched in March 2022 to provide refuge to
Ukrainians fleeing the war. There was an overwhelming response from the UK
public to support with hosting individuals and families. The war in Ukraine
continues, as does the need for shelter and safe accommodation for those
displaced and fleeing Ukraine.
Pope
Francis has spoken of ‘welcoming the stranger’ and extending support to migrants,
which the Catholic community has embraced wholeheartedly, showing enthusiasm
for the cause and a willingness to open their homes.
To
match this dedication and further support our Ukrainian neighbours, CSAN have
partnered with St John of God’s Hospitaller Services (SJOG) to launch a
matching service for the Catholic community. The service launched in September
2022 and is looking to recruit hosts from across the UK, willing to host and
support displaced Ukrainians, who will be supported with the necessary
applications and safely transported to the UK.
Further
information on the matching service, including how to apply to host, can be
found on the leaflets at the back of the church or by going to the SJOG website
