X FACE COVERINGS - HM Government has made the wearing of face covering mandatory in
Places of Worship since Friday 10th December 2021. Please assist and comply.
X RECEPTION OF COMMUNION AT MASS – those not in Full Communion with the Roman Catholic Church and Roman Catholics not able to receive Holy Communion are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing. Those wishing to receive a blessing are asked to approach the Priest with their arms crossed over their chest.
X PARISH SYNOD QUESTIONNAIRES – the original deadline has been extended so we’ve more time to gather your views! But we’re aware that not everyone is online or can attend meetings! So we invite you to complete a paper-based questionnaire. It’s one side of A4, with room on the back for your comments if you wish.
The questionnaire is being handed out after this weekend’s Masses. Please return completed questionnaires by next weekend – deadline of noon on 16th January; there will be a box at the back of each church or put your response through the Presbytery letterbox at Guildhall Street. And thank you, in advance, for taking part!
X REMINDER – THERE IS CURRENTLY NO COFFEE IN THE HALL AFTER MASS - with the rise in infection rates for Covid, a decision has been taken to temporarily suspend tea and coffee after Mass. Whilst the church remains safe, with limited moving around and masks being worn, we are unable to offer that level of health and safety in the hall for tea and coffee after Mass. We apologise for any inconvenience, but your safety is our paramount concern.
X RCIA AND CATECHISM CLASSES POSTPONED – with the continuing rise in infection rates for Covid, it has been decided to postpone the Catechism classes until the first week of February. Apologies for any inconvenience.
X POPE’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR JANUARY 2022 - FOR TRUE HUMAN FRATERNITY. We pray for all those suffering from religious discrimination and persecution; may their own rights and dignity be recognized, which originate from being brothers and sisters in the human family.
X THANK YOU to everyone who very kindly gave cards and gifts to Fr Alex, Fr Capener, Deacon Gehad and Dylan in the office. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.
X WHITE FOLOWER APPEAL 2022 – the Society for the Protection of Unborn children (SPUC) will be holding its annual appeal next weekend. SPUC is currently campaigning to protect Pro-life speech. Pro-life witness is being restricted now more than ever; we must be able to speak freely to protect unborn babies. Please be as generous as you can to help SPUC defend unborn babies and their mothers from this new attack.
X GROWING IN FAITH TOGETHER PROGRAMME is an exciting new collaboration between Sycamore, the
Southwark Marriage and Family Life Team and the Diocesan Agency for Evangelisation
and Catechesis. It consists of four one hour-long sessions via Zoom and is a
wonderful opportunity for:
· engaged couples who have completed
their marriage preparation course and want to continue exploring their faith
together;
· or married couples to enrich their
friendship and love.
There are two opportunities to
attend the course. The first course runs on Tuesday evenings from 8.00-9.00pm
beginning on 18th January 2022. The second course runs on Saturday mornings
from 10.30-11.30am beginning 19th February 2022.
To attend the sessions online, you will need to register at https://aec.rcaos.org.uk/together and you are welcome to attend as a couple or as individuals.
X MARY WHEATON died peacefully in her sleep
this week, comforted by the sacraments that Father Louis administered to her.
May she be granted eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon her.
