X FACE COVERINGS - HM Government has made the wearing of face covering mandatory in Places of Worship. Please comply to avoid closure.
X REMINDER – THERE IS CURRENTLY NO COFFEE IN THE HALL AFTER MASS - with the rise in infection rates for Covid, a decision has been taken to temporarily suspend tea and coffee after Mass. Whilst the church remains safe, with limited moving around and masks being worn, we are unable to offer that level of health and safety in the hall for tea and coffee after Mass. We apologise for any inconvenience, but your safety is our paramount concern.
X THE SYNOD QUESTIONNAIRE - If you’ve already completed and returned the synod questionnaire we gave out last week, thank you very much! If you haven’t yet got around to it, there’s still time….and we really want to know your views! There are spare copies in both churches and the collection boxes await your responses….or post through the Presbytery letterbox in Guildhall Street! Thank you again!
X WHITE FLOWER APPEAL 2022 – the Society for the Protection of Unborn children (SPUC) will be holding its annual appeal this weekend. SPUC is currently campaigning to protect Pro-life speech. Pro-life witness is being restricted now more than ever; we must be able to speak freely to protect unborn babies. Please be as generous as you can to help SPUC defend unborn babies and their mothers from this new attack.
X PLEASE PRAY FOR THE REPOSE OF THE SOULS of Mary Wheaton, Ann Craggill and Margaret Shepherd who died recently and for all those whose anniversaries fall at this time, including amongst them:
Janice Buchanan, Jeanne Niedzwiecki, Henry Sprenger, Henri Pourret (16th Jan); Robert Chittock, Dorothy Stacey, Robert MacQueen, Frederick Pluck (17th Jan); Dorothy Bergum, Eileen Cavanagh (18th Jan); Anthony Riley, Fred Cotton, Leopoldo Gianella (19th Jan); James Scott, Therese Austin, Jean Coshell, Winifred Punnett (20th Jan); Eileen Hearn, Laura Woodsford, Lila Roche, Ryszard Hanys, Anita Cambacedes, Ellen Gallagher, Eileen Everall, Amelia Sings (21st Jan); Arthur Young, Frances Wilson, Irene Pilkington, Charles Brooker, Veronica Carney (22nd Jan); Catherine Miles, John O’Connor, Ina Richards (23rd Jan).
X PEACE SUNDAY 2022 – this Sunday is Peace Sunday and a second collection for Pax Christi will be held next weekend.
“The work of Pax Christi is based on the gospel and inspired by faith. Our vision is of a world where people can live in peace, without fear of violence in all its forms. Rooted in Catholic Christianity, we work with all who share our values to abolish war and create communities of peace and justice”.
Prayer
O God of peace, who are peace itself
and whom a spirit of discord
cannot grasp,
nor a violent mind receive,
grant that those who are one in heart
may persevere in what is good
and that those in conflict
may forget evil and so be healed.
Amen
X WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY - the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is traditionally observed from the 18th to the 25th January, which is recognised as the octave of St. Peter and St. Paul. In 2022 the theme for this ecumenical week is 'We saw his star in the East'.
The story of the Magi visiting the Holy Family in Bethlehem is familiar to all Catholics. The Magi have sometimes been seen as a symbol of diversity, of different religions and cultures, and of all that is good in the eyes of God paying homage at the manger.
A pamphlet offering readings, a short
reflection, prayer and possible actions on a global, local and personal basis,
for each day of the week is available at:

X NO MASS
ON TUESDAYS – please note that for the foreseeable future, there will be
no Mass on Tuesdays in the Parish. However, it is hoped that the church at
OLHoC in Guildhall Street will continue to open for private prayer on Tuesday
mornings.
