X CLERGY SUPPORT FUND SECOND COLLECTION THIS SUNDAY – the Clergy Support Fund of the Archdiocese of Southwark provides care for priests in their old age and retirement and in their time of ill health. A gift to this worthy fund will ensure a dignified retirement for out priests, after they have dedicated a lifetime of service to Christ, His Church and His People.

In 2021, the Clergy Support Fund provided care to 71 retired priests, at a cost of £1.25 million. With the number of priests over the age of 65 steadily increasing, so too will the financial obligation to the Archdiocese. This fund continues to provide support to OLHoC former Parish Priest, Fr Roger Nesbitt, and provided vital support to Fr Ed Hartley, former Parish priest at St Joseph’s, until his sad death in May 2020. We have therefore brought forward this Diocesan second collection by one week to enable parishioners attending Sunday Mass at OLHoC and St Joseph’s to contribute. If you are unable to give this Sunday, there is a box for ‘Sick Priests’ at the back of the church at OLHoC and envelopes are also available at the back of each of our churches. Please be generous today with a gift and continue to keep our priests in your prayers.

X PLEASE PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE SICK OR IN HOSPITAL including Margaret Woolley, Lilian Orfila, Yenny Marcela Torres and Margaret Foster.

X ASH WEDNESDAY on 2ND MARCH – There will be Mass with Distribution of Ashes at OLHoC at 9.30am, at St Joseph’s at 12 noon and at OLHoC at 7.00pm.

X CATECHISM CLASSES will resume on Monday 21st February at 7.30pm in OLHoC Hall. Classes are open to all who want to explore their Catholic faith further. Please come along and join in this amazing experience if you are free.

X  SHEPWAY FOOD BANK – a reminder that this month we are raising funds for the Food Bank and the Winter Shelter. You can donate in February via the box at St Joseph’s marked ‘Peter’s Pence at the back of St Joseph’s Church or via the ‘Poor Box’ located at the back of the church at OLHoC in Guildhall Street. All money collected this month, until the end of February, will be split between the Foodbank and the Winter Shelter.

X TEA AND COFFEE IN THE HALL AFTER SUNDAY MASS AND ON WEDNESDAYS– Bacon and egg rolls will be served after the 9.00am and 11.00am Mass next week (27th February) and this week the Sunshine Sunday Breakfast returns to St Joseph’s after Mass. Also, a reminder that after the 9.00am Mass on Wednesday there is tea, coffee, biscuits, cake and chat served after the 10.00am Mass.

X WORLD DAY OF PRAYER 2022 (formerly the Women’s World Day of Prayer)The theme this year is ‘I know the plans I have for you’ and this is an exciting year as, for the first time since 1945, the World Day of Prayer service originates from England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Scotland has a separate committee). Do come along and share in this special service, which is ecumenical and welcomes both women and men, young and old. The national president, Elizabeth Burroughs, writes ‘As more and more countries join the WDP movement, I guess it will be more than 77 years before EWNI will one again be asked to prepare the service for Day of Prayer. So let’s enjoy the full experience of the whole world praying with us on 4th March 2022’.
